A 23-year-old woman, Sydney Craft of Roseburg in Oregon was standing on some rocks taking photos of her friend jumping into a river when she suddenly slipped and fell 90 feet off a cliff to her death, police revealed on Monday.
According to investigators, Craft and her friend were visiting the North Umpqua River northeast of the city when the accident happened. After Craft fell off the cliff to the rivers edge, her friend tried unsuccessfully to give her CPR but he couldn’t help her.
Investigators called to the scene Sunday afternoon said Craft was dead when they arrived.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Captain Dwes Hutson said:
“These things are very unfortunate,” . “This was a tragic accident.”
